Building
Logs used to
build this steakhouse were grown and logged near Lolo Pass.
Estimated age of the trees is 135 to 150 years old. Darell Babcock
of Graves Creek Log Construction, scribed, engineered and erected
the log work.
Each log has been
hand scribed for notches and seating. Note that all logs interlock,
log by log, in each corner. All logs have Swedish cope cut on them
to settle on top of the underlog, giving an air tight construction
of these larch logs.
Each "round"
consists of 13 logs to complete the "round", and 9 to 10 rounds
complete the walls. The building has 4,290 square feet.
There are
approximately 40,000 board feet of log used in the construction. It
took 190 logs to complete the walls, ridge poles and support logs.
An additional truckload of lodgepole pine was used to complete the
roof rafters. the center pole of the roof is 24 feet from the
foor.
